Diz-se que se a Carpa conseguir subir pela cascata Longman Falls (Portão do Dragão), ela se transformará em dragão. Em tatugens a carpa a subir significa força para alcançar os objectivos, determinação em superar um obstáculo, e a descer significa que os objectivos foram alcançados. Na mitologia diz-se que as Carpas sobem o rio para se tornarem dragões, e somente na volta podem ter aquela cara de "mau" como os dragões.
